Home page

Nunsfield House Amateur Radio Group operates many Special Event Stations in an endeavour to bring the hobby of amateur radio to the general public and also to provide the amateur radio fraternity something different and interesting to work.

We operate two regular event stations.

GB5HW is the first one in our calendar. The club operates a portable station  from Heage Windmill in North Derbyshire as part of the National Mills Weekend organised by Denby Dale ARS

The purpose of the weekend is for amateur radio groups around the country to establish stations at as many windmills and watermills as possible and for other amateur radio enthusiasts and shortwave listeners to try to contact them.

GB2ECR is our other regular event station. This station is established at the Elvaston Castle Radio Rally which takes place on the 2nd Sunday in June each year. The purpose of this station is not only to make the amateur radio fraternity aware of the forthcoming rally but also to allow those who are intending to visit the rally to contact the station for information. In recent years Joe Bell G4PMY has very kindly allowed us to use his Russian Communications Vehicle as the station HQ for the Saturday and Sunday of the rally weekend.

The club takes the opportunity to get involved in as many stations as is possible during the year and to also get involved with the local community.  In recent years we have operated;

GB4CIN as part of the Children In Need Appeal.
GB5CM from the Clay Mills pumping station near Burton-on-Trent.
as part of the community service day at Buxton Fire Station.
from the Lowe Electronics Open Day in Matlock.
from the Mickleover Fun Day in Mickleover, Derby.
from the Mickleover Summer Fayre in Mickleover, Derby.
