Elvaston Castle

National Radio Rally

Rally Home

The Elvaston Castle National Rally is famed not only as the best amateur radio rally of its type in Europe but also for providing entertainment for all the family especially the children. Each year the rally organisers provide a variety of entertainments for children of all ages.

One of the most popular entertainers is Dez Colona. During the day Dez does everything from Punch and Judy to balloon models. The children congregate around the stand awaiting Dez's arrival with anticipation. Judging by the sounds of laughter from the crowd it is obvious that Dez will be along standing part of the Elvaston Rally for years to come.

Another extremely popular feature of the rally is the FREE children's face painting done by Doodles Face Painting. The quality of the face painting has to be seen to be believed. The photographs on this web page just go to prove this. The organisers provide this service free of charge and this usually take place in the reception marquee. The queues begin way before Doodles arrive and continue throughout the day. The kids can choose from many different designs from Frankenstein to a beach scene with dolphins and blue skies. Be sure your kids pay a visit to Doodles when you visit the rally.

The rally organisers try to ensure that there are also rides for the children. This year we have Mr. Bounce who is providing a selection of inflatable rides such as slides, bouncy castle, bungee run, etc. A small, pocket money size, charge will be made for each ride.

The Elvaston Castle organisers like to make sure that there is always some live music around on rally day. This year we have the Bourbon Street Roof Raisers Jazz Band from Bolton.  The band entertains the crowds throughout the day with sessions of lively music as they parade around the site.

Moving away from the amateur radio aspect of the rally. The Craft Marquee offers a variety of handcrafted goods made by local folk. Why not pay the marquee a visit and buy that special little something…..!
