MOTA 2018

12th & 13th May 2018

Weather was a little overcast on the Saturday but Sunday fared much better. Saturday's band conditions were not in our favour this year for HF contacts and we even struggled with FT8 on multiple bands. Sunday gave us a better day on HF with quite a few inter G contacts. This poor weather over the weekend as a whole lead to one of our poorest performances in a while from this location. However we could not complain due to the beautiful location and setting with Heage Windmill sitting right next us. We also had the pleasure on the Sunday to look at the many vintage motor cycles that had gathered in the grounds of the Windmill.

Equipment operated over the weekend was: Yaesu FT 736-R on 2m Kenwood TS 480SAT on all other bands Yaesu FT-991 of FT8

Aerials: Wire Dipole – 40m and 80m Endfeed Radom Long Wire Tri Band Co-Linear

Operators: Pete Walker – G6KUI, Paul Gamble – G1SGZ, Ken Clarke – G0JKC, Derry White – 2E0RRF, Richard Janezko - 2E0ZDY, Stefan Latimer – 2E0VKM, Lyndsay Latimer – M6YMB, Connor Reeve – M6HZH, Ron Jones - M6KQV

About the Mill Heage Windmill is the LAST Stone built, Six Sail Windmill left in the UK. Renovations began in 2002 and the building saved from almost certain collapse. The renovations have taken the team over 15 years so far and with many donations from the public the Mill is fully operational once more having recently had the main beam replaced. If you would like to know more about the Mill please visit their site at https://www.heagewindmill.org.uk/

We would like to give our gratitude to the Heage Windmill Society and the Friends of Heage Windmill for their years of hospitality to all of the members of Nunsfield House Amateur Radio Group.
